Music in my Life
Music has always played a big part in my life. As I was growing
up dad was always playing sax or clarinet, jazz and blues; mom would play the organ or piano.
There was always music of some sort playing somewhere in the house so naturally
I would gravitate towards it. So I taught myself to sort of play the piano and dad
taught me to play the clarinet. Thus I now play the latter in a local marching band
called the CLB (Church Lads Brigade) Band. The piano I still play, though mostly improvising my
own tunes on an ancient old C. Bechstein grand, my piano.
I prefer to listen to classical music, Mozart, Bach etc. I enjoy the complexity of the
overall structures found in classical music, the rich harmonies, counterpoint beautiful
melodies. I think it has so much more to offer than "pop" music though I must admit
I like quite a bit of popular music.
