Bikes for Kids

This program is designed to recycle bikes that the R.N.C recover around the city and which are, in turn, passed over to the program's chief engineer Dave d'Entremont who along with Dave Hammond, work in the basement of the Boys and Girls Club to fix up the bikes to roadworthy standard. The incentive is to get the young would be recipients to attain a standard of reading to merit a free bike.

The idea has, however, generated some interesting counter-points. Why not have the kids do the fixing up? In this way the kids would learn some vital bike maintenance and attain a feeling of accomplishment. One snag to this would appear to be in the cramped working space available. If anyone can help in the BIKES FOR KIDS program.

Please contact Dave d'Entremont at 753-2425.
