Linux

Once upon a time, way back a long time ago, the pc universe consisted of nothing more elaborate than Mark Voleman. He was a... umm... sofa. Wait, something appears to be wrong here... lemme try this again.

Linux

Dear Bill,

If you don't stop sending me naked pictures of your Grandma, I'll have to take legal action. Regardless of her amazing flexibility, I'm just not interested in "Buying that for a buck." Now, if you want to send along one of those Windows 95 cd's, I could use a new coaster.

Yeah, I know it doesn't make much sense. Deal with it.

Ok, so this page is about Linux. What is Linux, I hear no one in particular asking (I should probably do something about those voices). Well, Linux is a freely available unix kernel, covered by the Gnu General Public License. Add to this the trillions of GPL'd and otherwise free unix utilities out there, and you have a very usable, free operating system. Originally targeted towards the Intel 80x86 Family of processors (your standard pc, for all you hardware inept heathens), it runs on just about everything worth running it on now... well, accept for my toaster, but that's in early beta.

Before I sink too deeply into foolish ramblings, here's a list of places where you can find some useful information. Personally, I think useful information is highly overrated... being blatently lied to can be much more entertaining. Anyways, check the following links for people who like to set the record straight:

Some useful software for linux

A couple of pieces of software I find myself using regularly. This is definately not an exhaustive list of decent software out there (you can find a good list at the Woven Goods for LINUX site). Unfortunately, this is rather X-centric, since I've finally had to swallow my immense hatred of windowing systems and start running X most of the time.

Coming soon

Links to all the modified Dooms out there that compile under linux.

When you get to the bottom you go back to the [TOP] of the slide.

What's with this lumpy crap?
