The Lumpy Noodles Homepage
Welcome to my mighty homepage, which actually has nothing
to do with noodles, or lumps (well, maybe a few lumps, but I'm not
telling where). The location of this site is soon going to change. Try
here for now.
WARNING
This site could contain profanity. It could also contain the
meaning of life. The meaning of life may
contain profanity. 'cuff' spelled backwards is almost a bit of
profanity, but isn't.
Table of Contents
For those of you who have been here before and don't want to wade
through all this crap.
- A near complete lack of snazzy graphics, sounds and coffee-related
programming languages(*).
- Contains 0 grams of fat.
- May be harmful to children, pregnant women and
obese, balding conservatives.
- Optimized for viewing with Lynx. To paraphrase the wittiness of
so many lusers: "get a real browser! Use lynx!"
- Ranting and raving: of the quality you used to have to go find a
drunken bum for.
(*) Ok, so there might be a little about Java(TM), but it's not
praise :P... There's been an image added, too.
What it's for
This page is for the express purpose of having a web page. Maybe, if I'm
lucky, it'll also annoy the hell out of someone. I can only cross my fingers
and wonder what hell looks like as it exits.
In case this doesn't put your mind at ease, you can look at my
Not at all FAQ.
Now we move on to the brand of crap where I give you links to things I'm
interested in writing about, making (in)valid points about, or just
providing information on. From here, you select the things you are also
interested in and follow those links. Neat, isn't it. What a novel concept.
Well, here they are
- Programming. Covers everything from programming
in Lisp to poems about Lisp. Oh, and there are a few other, less important languages,
like C, C++, perl, python, Java(TM)...
- Linux. You know you want to use a real operating system :P
- Muds. A variety of techniques, from using different types of dirt
to adding water in different ways. Also, a little about those things out there
where a bunch of people get together, and interact in text-based bliss.
- Software. Links and info about my own and other peoples
software projects.
- Gnu. Information on the Gnu's Not
Unix project and the Free Software Foundation.
- Guile. A page for gnu
guile. Mostly a holding area for stuff I'm working on.
- News. Recent (and probably old by the
time you read it) news, mostly to do with free software.
- Flame subjects. Some of the things
that are likely to start a little war on damn near any list.
Yeah, ok, so that's the real point of computers.
- Angband, a roguelike game (allegedly)
based on the works of JRRT, though alternate theories are explored on
this page. Also includes links (what a surprise!) and little things
that I've written for the game.
That's it for now
(Warbles) Oh Ivory Tower, how I miss thee... (bloody scud missles,
couldn't hit the broad side of a barn)
Yep, here's some links to the seedier side of information and
knowledge...
-
Mathematics. All the bizarre and fun things
you can do with numbers and letters.
-
Computer science. Enough dry theory to make
the lowliest of geeks salavate with excitement. I'd better not come
back and find byte marks on my hash table... (oh ouch). This is really
taking a long time to actually get done, because, well, I don't care
that much, and no one reads this page except me ;)
An aural assault, complete with html markup!
-
My stuff. My own personal mods and midi
files... be careful, some of these may inflict serious brain damage.
-
Computer music. Info and links for
the various flavours of computer based music.
I obviously didn't put much thought into this header. You can only
hope I put more thought into the rest of the pages, but I make no
guarantees.
- Authors. People who write things that I enjoy reading.
Kurt Vonnegut and Margaret Atwood are the main stars of this
page.
- $cientology. Just to show that you can
get people to believe absolutely anything.
Here I'm going to stop pretending that I'm going to write a detailed
page for this stuff and just put a few topical links
- Karen's
page. A good online friend of mine, and one of the spiffiest
people you're ever likely to meet (I'll think of something nicer to
say later :).
-
Rush Limbaugh vs. Reality. It might be ``the way things are,'' but
only in Rush's private little world. I'm not terribly political (it
bores me, really)... this is mostly for a little jab at one particular
person (see the last link ;).
If you're waiting anxiously to see what lies ahead for
this page, you can check out my TODO list.
When you get to the bottom you go back to the [TOP] of the slide.
What's with this
lumpy crap?
