Lighthouse Soaps, whether scented or scent-free, are handmade by a cold process method using a blend of natural oils designed by us to soothe and moisturize your skin.  No chemicals are used in the process except sodium hydroxide (used in all soap-making processes) which is converted to glycerin and soap during saponification. Glycerin is a natural moisturizer which is created by the saponification process and retained in handmade soaps.  In commercial soaps, the glycerin is removed.
Atlantic Iceberg Soap  is a fresh-scented soap that is reminiscent of the many icebergs to be seen in Newfoundland waters during spring and summer. It contains real iceberg water collected by a Conception Bay fisherman.
1892 Beer Soap is made with 1892 beer from the Quidi Vidi Brewery.  It has a coconut fragrance. Beer soap is well-known for its skin and hair conditioning properties.

A wide variety of colour and scents
We use the term "scented soaps" as a warning to those who may be sensitive to synthetic scents.  If you are concerned about synthetic scents, please see our scent-free, colour-free soaps page.  Most of our scented soaps contain synthetic scents, although some - such as Lavender and Kelp & Eucalyptus - are scented with natural essential oils.
Our scented soaps are coloured with FD&C colouring agents.  These are colours that are certified by the US Food and Drug Administration as being suitable for use in food, drugs, and cosmetics.  We make every effort to make our soaps as natural as possible; however, demand for scented and coloured soaps means we are forced to use synthetic scents and colouring agents in many of our products.  Click here to learn more about our ingredients.
