Hi, my name is Bonnie, I live in Newfoundland, Canada and quite new to this computer stuff. I love experimenting with it to see what I can learn. Everything that I have learned  I did by trial and error. My first big accomplishment is this webpage. I am learning how to use my Paint Shop Pro software now, it is so much fun. My hobbies are genealogy, making crafts, PSP and Scrapbooking. My favorite music is country. Family and friends are very important to me. I believe that family and friends are the most important things to have in your life, without them you have nothing.

This is what I am like when I am doing research for my family .
It takes a lot of work, but the rewards are wonderful, you get to find out things about your ancestors that you never knew before, you can trace back to see where they came from, what they worked at, how many children they had, you feel like you actually know them. It is great to have, to share with family.
There are a lot of people doing it, and I find that when we share what we know  with others,  you are making new friends and most times new relatives that you didn't know about before. The names I am researching are, Newhook,Crann,Cumby,Whitten,Chafe . I'm sure as my search continues there will be a lot more names for me to trace. The list of different names continue to grow. Anyone interested in these names, feel free to email me, I would be glad to help.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me in my  search for family roots. Without them I wouldn't have made it so far in my quest.
Special thanks to Ray, who got me started in the right direction on my mom's history. Randy for helping me along the way, with how to use the software program, how to create files and sharing with me our family history.  Chaz  for the countless e-mail's,  information on my dads history, and tips on the software program I use. Michael for  sharing his information with me. Wayne for helping me with Crann info, Roger, Tim and Shane for sharing info on the Newhook line, I am very grateful, to all of you. You can't imagine how much your help means to me.

Sites that helped me in my search in Newfoundland are:

The Strong  Family of Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland. Canada

Newfoundland Grand Banks

Al Beagan's Genealogy Notes

Cemetery Records Newfoundland
Canadian Genealogy and History Links, Newfoundland

Crann Family History

This is a picture of  Petty Harbour, Newfoundland . This is where a lot of my ancestors came from. My mom's family. (Whittens and Chafes)The picture was taken in 1989.
When John Cabot arrived in Newfoundland in 1497, there were already fishermen here. The community was named by the french, "petite" meaning, little or small. I have lots of relatives living in Petty Harbour. It is one of  my favorite places to visit.
My dad's family (Newhooks) came from Norman's Cove, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland.  His family were from a long line of Shipbuilder's. A great site to visit to find out info on people from Trinity Bay is listed above, The Strong Family of Notre Dame Bay.
Both sets of my ancestors came from England originally.
