Comments: I enjoyed my visit, all the more because I was familiar with most of the sites as they were in wartime. As a young lad I worked on the early construction of Pepperell making, as I recall, the princely sum of 45 cents an hour. That was way ahead of the $1.30 a day I got once I joined the RCAF in January l943. You may be interested to know that the VIP building erected at the flying boat base at Botwood to house the likes of Winston Churchill and Lord Mountbatten was secured by the Royal Canadian Legion branch at Grand Falls in l949- 50.. I was secretary of the branch at the time. That building continues in use as the heart of the active RCL branch , although it has been extended in size!

Comments: Greetings, I'd like to invite everyone who has either knowledge or an interest in the disappearance of Nungesser and Coli in 1927, to join our exploration of this fascinating mystery from the golden age of aviation. Several reports of sightings of "The White Bird" were made in NFLD. It would be great to hear from the folks in that area. Old stories passed down might yield some clues. Come on over and join with our NIKS as we delve into the facts behind the mystery. Hat NIKS002
