Windows 3.1/3.11
If you have Windows 3.1 you should have no problem installing The Zone software as per the Windows 3.1/3.11
Set-up instructions. This should cause no problems with using either provider.
Windows 95
Follow these instructions only if you have Windows 95 and your other Internet Provider uses dial-up networking.
If your other provider uses another dialing program (TCPman, Shiva, etc.) then you should install The Zone software
as per the WINDOWS 95 SETUP instructions.
Because some other Internet Providers who use Windows 95 dial-up networking don't set up their configurations
in a way that allows multiple Internet accounts with different providers, it is sometimes necessary to make a few
changes to the settings.
If your other Internet Provider does use dial-up networking, follow these steps:
First of all you should click the START button, select SETTINGS and CONTROL PANEL. Double click on the NETWORK
icon. You should check the settings in this area against those listed in the CONFIGURATION (Control Panel Network)
section to make sure that they match. Often you will find that another provider will store their DNS numbers in
here instead of in their Dial-up Networking Properties. While this will work with only one provider it prevents
you from using multiple providers as every provider's DNS numbers will be different. The Zone DNS numbers are stored
in the Dial-up Networking Properties. If you have DNS numbers in both areas your Dial-up Networking will not work.
If your other Internet Provider does have DNS numbers in this Control Panel Network section, write them down
and move them to the Dial-up Networking Properties for that provider. You should then be able to safely make any
other changes to have your Control Panel Network section match our settings in the CONFIGURATION section of this
documentation.
Once this is done you can go ahead and install The Zone software as per the WINDOWS 95 SETUP instructions.
