Welcome to the website of the 3rd Annual Santa Claus Pub-Crawl.

The Santa Claus Pub-Crawl (SCPC) is a festive event where Newfoundlanders (as well as token CFA’s) dress as Father Christmas, Elves, Reindeer, and new for this year, Ho Ho Ho Girls, to drink, dance, and be merry, at bars and pubs in downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada to raise money for charity.

Go to Frequently Asked Questions to find out more about the pub-crawl and then go to the Sign-up page to select your character of choice. To view the pub crawl route visit the Map page. Remember, only those participants wearing full costumes will receive drink specials at the bar. So get your costume and join in on the fun for a great cause.

See you at 7:00pm at the Rose and Thistle on Wednesday, December 22.

DRESS AS SANTA. GIVE TO CHARITY. DRINK FOR LESS.

Sincerely,

SCPC Board of Directors

When is the Santa Pub Crawl?

  • 7:00pm, December 22, 1999 TOP

Where does it begin?

  • We will start the SCPC at the same Pub we’ve started for the last 3 years, the Rose & Thistle Pub (Water Street). We will be at The Rose from 7:00 - 8:00pm. TOP

What is the purpose of the SCPC?

  • Get into the spirit and spirits of Christmas (i.e. Raise money for charity and drink). While the SCPC is not a formal charitable organization, all profits raised from entry fees and corporate sponsors are donated to charities. TOP

Is there a charge to enter the SCPC?

  • There is a $3 entry fee. $2 from each participant will be given to charity. The remaining $1 will cover the cost of the Official SCPC button you will receive at the start of the pub-crawl. Each button will contain a number. Numbers will be drawn for prizes at the end of the pub-crawl. TOP

How many bars and pubs does the SCPC visit?

  • We will be visiting 8 or 9 drinking establishments. The pub-crawl route is available on the Map page. TOP

Is the SCPC a race?

  • No. The SCPC, as the name suggests, is a pub crawl not a pub sprint. We take our time and savor each drink, sing Christmas songs, and dance, at each bar for about ½ an hour. The crawl should last about 4 hours depending on the pace set by the participants. TOP

Do I have to wear a full Santa, Elf, Reindeer, or Ho costume?

  • We encourage full costumes. Only people wearing full costumes will be given "HappyHour" prices at each bar in addition to praise and approval from fellow Christmas characters. TOP

Where can I buy a Santa, Elf, Reindeer, or Ho costume?

  • Wal-Mart has agreed to bring in an extra 20 Santa and 20 Elf costumes specifically for the SCPC. The suits costs $29.95 and are available the Avalon Mall location.
  • Reindeer antlers can be found at the San Francisco store at the Avalon Mall. The iT Store at The Mall also has Christmas character apparel.
  • Ho costumes are ho-made. A minimalist philosophy is encouraged. TOP
