Right now, this page doesn't have as many fishery related pictures from home that I'd like, but I'm working on that.  The fishery in Conche was always the main livelihood, and people in Conche often spent much of their time in or around boats. The style of the boats used in the local fishery has evolved over the years, resulting in observable changes. The one which stands out the most is the most important one-the change from the small trap skiff, which was an open boat with an underpowered engine and little in the way of equipment (safety supplies were virtually nonexistent); to the long-liners which are commonplace in today's Nfld outports, which have a high powered engine to help overcome the wind and tides, and a well equipped deck and cabin, as well as bunks to allow overnight stoppage.  Conche also has it's own Fish Plant.

Here are some pictures of people fishing: Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3.
